Wilson, O’Brien star as Ireland beat UAE by 2 wickets in 16th World Cup match

BRISBANE: Wilson and O’Brien rescued Ireland as Irish team have defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) in match 16 of International Cricket Council (ICC) cricket World Cup at Brisbane.

Gray Wilson scored brilliant half century (80) while Kevin O’ Brine smoked 50 just facing 25 deliveries to guide the team towards victory stand.

Ireland chased down the total in 49th over on loss of 8 wickets. Amjad Javed picked up three wickets for UAE.

Earlier, Anwar scored the maiden century for UAE in the World Cup as he scored outstanding 106 just facing 82 deliveries.

UAE who were invited to bat posted a respectable total of 278 runs on loss of 9 wickets with Anwar, Amjad Ali and Amjad Javed playing the great hand with the bat.

Anwar made 106 while Ali scored 45 and Javed lost his wicket after scoring quick 42 runs.

Max Sorensen, Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brien picked up two wickets each.
