BRISBANE: Showing fear that Green Shirts would be out of world cup if they don’t change the approach, legendary bowler Aaqib Javed slams defensive approach of Pakistan team.
A match winning bowler for the 92’s Champion team, medium fast bowler shows his anger over preparations of the team for the mega tournament.
“Pakistan invested in one bunch of players before the World Cup and took a completely different team to the tournament,” Aaqib, who heads United Arab Emirates Team these days, told BBC in an interview.
He also expressed his utter exclaim over dropping wicket keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed from the final 11 in first two matches.
“Sarfraz was good enough to start for any team at the World Cup,” he further said.
“Through his performances in the last couple of series, he had finally resolved Pakistan’s longstanding issue of finding a good wicketkeeper batsman. But his confidence would have been badly shaken by the treatment meted out to him,” Aaqib said.
He sees no place for out of form Younis Khan in the Green Shirts.
“The current Pakistan team lacked leaders and was afraid of losing,” the pacer viewed.
He also criticized Waqar Younis way of coaching.
“You need to be a professional coach to manage a team. You cannot be commentating one day and decide the next to become a coach.”
