Pakistan Will be facing a big short fall till 2020: NEPRA

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), denying all the claims of government about load shedding, clearly reports that electricity will not be ended before 2020, local media reported.

NEPRA reported that the country will face a short fall of 1200 megawatts in 2020. Government had paid Rs480 billion to make the power sector independent.

The report is alarming especially when the government has some other area also to focus on, like terrorism. Government had time to time claimed the complete elimination of load-shedding maximum till the end of this decade.

Last month in January, Pakistan’s federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif had expressed the hope to overcome the power load-shedding by 2017.

The Minister while talking to media outlets had said that government is working over many projects for this purpose.

He had said electricity shortage had been witnessed during winter because of less hydel power generation but government will overcome the power crises till the end of this decade maximum.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan is one of those countries which are facing a serious power crises. In Pakistan, electricity is generated with, mainly furnace oil. Hydal power generation method is is also adopted for Power generation.
