LONDON: British actor Eddie Redmayne accpets his first ever Oscar in the 88th Academy Awards.
The actor has managed to bag this award for his role in the movie “The theory of everything” in which he played the role of Physicist Stephan Hawking.
Redmayne was nominated along with some of Hollywood’s finest actors Steve Carell, Michael Keaton, Bradley Cooper and Benedict Cumberbatch however the 33 year old Eddie Redmayne who has previously won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild and a BAFTA for this particular role managed to have another well deserved victory.
Redmayne in his acceptance speech dedicated the award to those who are fighting the disease ALS, he also dedicated it to the Hawking family as well as his own wife, Hannah.
Eddie Redmayne looked very dapper as he accepted his award in a navy Alexander McQueen tuxedo.
The movie “The theory of everything” was also nominated in other categories, while Redmayne’s co-star Felicity Jones was also a contender in the Best Actress category however the award went to Julianne Moore for her character in “Still Alice”.
Eddie Redmayne accepted the award from “Blue Jasmine” actress, Cate Blanchett.
