Finch ton helps Australia set 343 runs target against England

MELBOURNE: Aaron Finch smashed 135 as Australia posted 342 runs for the loss of 9 wickets against England in their first match of  World Cup at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday.

England won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Aaron Finch took full advantage of home conditions and scored the first century of World Cup.  Glen Maxwell and skipper Gorge Bailey chipped in with half centuries.

Australia lost two wickets at 57 as David Warner and Shane Watson departed off two consecutive deliveries of Stuart Broad.

Bailey and Finch scored 146 for the fourth wicket. Finch was run out after scoring 135, while Bailey was bowled by Steven Finn on 55. Near the end of the innings Maxwell smashed 66 of 40 delivers

Finn picked up five wickets, including a hat-trick on the last three balls of the innings. This is the first hat-trick in the tournament.

This is the highest total by any team against England in World Cup.
