Zimbabwe defeat Sri Lanka in World Cup Warm-up match

LINCOLN: Hamilton Masakadza’s ton helped Zimbabwe to chase down the big total of 280 runs against Sri Lanka in World Cup warm-up match played at Bert Sutcliffe Oval.

Masakadza scored a brilliant unbeaten 117 to lead his side to victory over mighty Sri Lanka who posted 279 runs batting first after winning the toss.

Wicket keeper batsman Brendon Taylor contributed 63 runs with Sean William following him with unbeaten 51 runs.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted a decent total of 279 runs thanks to half centuries of Dimuth Karunaratne who scored 58 while Jeeven Mendis scored 51 runs.

Sean Williams picked up three wickets for Zimbabwe.
