Wasim Akram’s key advice for Afridi, Ajmal

SYDNEY: Former skipper and legendary bowler Wasim Akram advised Shahid Afridi to reconsider his batting number.

He was of the view that Boom Boom should be playing at his original number.

“Shahid Afridi is the support of the team and it would be dangerous to get him played at lower order,” he further said.

He said these words at a time when Pakistan had faced back to back defeats in series against New Zealand. All the fields, bowling, batting and fielding, failed to produce the good results for the Green Shirts.

However, a sigh of relief could be felt on Monday when Pakistan beat Bangladesh, the first good signal for the team after a long time. Afridi’s performance is also a worrisome thing for the team, as he has failed to perform consistently for the team, especially in the big matches.

Besides Afridi, Wasim also advised Saeed Ajmal not to play world cup.

“The spinner is skilled but not that he would get the team to victory stand as he is off the field for quite a long time,” he further said.

Saeed has jost got the clearance from International Cricket Council over his bowling action. He passed the test in India; however, team is not a mood to give him a chance to play the mega event.

Pakistan team will play its first and the biggest matches against India on Feb 1. Pakistan had never won a match in the world cup.
