Geelani concerned over attacks on churches in Delhi

SRINAGAR: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani expressed his concern and anguish over the increasing attacks on the Churches in New Delhi and said that these attacks are planned and orchestrated and the Hindu communal parties are behind these attacks.

He said that due to the changing condition in India, a serious threat to the life, property and dignity of all the minorities has emerged and the new government of India is in haste to accomplish the task of RSS.
Hurriyat chairman who is present in Delhi for important health checkups, said that the incessant attacks over the Churches in New Delhi has threatened the Christian community of the state and they are feeling very unsafe there. A series of attacks are happening over the places of worships of Christians from last few month in which their religious symbols are being targeted.

While criticizing the Delhi police actions, he termed the use of violence over the peaceful protest demonstrations of the Christian community in Delhi as unjustified. While demanding for impartial investigation into the incidents, the Kashmiri leader said that the communal forces has got a considerable control over the Delhi government and police so their investigation can nether be independent nor fair and nor can they punish the culprits.
Geelani said that Muslims, Christians and Sikhs although are already treated as second class citizens in India but the new BJP government has created serious situations for them and their religious identity is in extreme danger. A war has been waged against the minorities in the name of “Home coming” and “save the daughter and bring in daughter-in-law” (“ghar wapsi” and “Bati bacho anr Bahu lao”) like programs and they are forced to accept the Hinduism. While commenting over the gifting of “Geeta” to the presidents of the foreign countries by the Indian prime minister Mr. narender Modi during his foreign visits, hurriyat chairman said that this country is said to be the secular country and there are numerous religious people residing in this country but Narender Modi instead of all these religious books gifting a particular book and gave an impression to the world that this country is no more secular and it is a Hindu state.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani questioned the continuous silence of Narender Modi over the provocative and communal statements of RSS people and said that it looks that there whatever is happening with the minorities is not an co-incident but it is a deep conspiracy which communal people are hatching. Geelani sahib appealed all the religious and political leaders of the minorities to remain united and fight against the evil designs of the communal forces.
