PCB’s proposal to include Ajmal in World Cup squad rejected by team management, report

LAHORE: A proposal from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include suspended ace spinner Saeed Ajmal in World Cup Suqad if he was cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) of illegal bowling action was rejected Pakistan team management, a report by a leading newspaper said.

The largest English language daily, Dawn, reported that the the team management of the Pakistan cricket squad in Australia turned down the proposal of the PCB to include off-spinner Saeed Ajmal in the squad if he gets cleared by the ICC.

The paper said  that the management reply to the proposal was: We don’t need Ajmal even if he gets cleared by the ICC for his bowling action.”

Quoting an unnamed high official of PCB, the paper said that they told PCB high-ups that the management had their own plan.

The PCB was interested in Ajmal’s induction in the team despite he had earlier pulled him out of the mega even due to Pakistan’s problems with their bowling attack on their tour to New Zealand.

“The PCB expects the report of Ajmal at any time, but now it does not matter whether it is positive or negative as the team management has decided to play the World Cup without Ajmal, believing the team does not need him,” he added.
