KARACHI: A team Karachi police headed by DIG Investigation Khwaja Naveed left for Dubai to bring back Uzair Baloch, one of the main characters of Lyari gang war.
The Lyari gang war kingpin would be brought back for prosecution in several cases registered against him at different city police stations.
It is to be mentioned here that Baloch was arrested by Interpol personnel at Dubai airport a few days before the New Year.
Karachi Police chief Ghulam Qadior Thebo had earlier stated that all necessary formalities had been completed for the notorious gangster’s extradition.
The team’s departure comes after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar directed federal and provincial authorities to complete Baloch’s extradition process within a week. AIG Thebo did not share any details of the team’s composition but confirmed that it is headed by SSP Khawaja.
Baloch, chief of the defunct People’s Aman Committee, had fled the city soon after a security operation was started in September 2013.
