UN resolutions violator can’t become SC permanent member: Pakistan Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman on Thursday reiterated the country’s stance for reforms in the United Nations to make it a more vibrant body but it clarified that it could not support permanent membership for India in the Security Council.

The Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said in the weekly media briefing in Islamabad that India had been continuously violating UN resolutions on Kashmir.

The spokesman questioned how a country that had been violating UN resolutions could become permanent member of the UN Security Council.

India has increased its defence budget by 12 percent, the spokesman added.

To a query, she said that China is playing important role in bringing peace and stability in the region.
