Media Manager Pakistan Cricket team rejects report about players’ injury

WELLINGTON: Media manager of Pakistan Cricket team Amjad Hussain has outrightly rejected the reports circulating in the media that three players of Pakistan cricket team were facing fitness problems and might be ruled out for the show-piece event.

Talking to private Geo News TV  from Wellington he said that the media reports were baseless and false and players of the team were 100 percent fit.

To a question that three players have been asked to remain on standby by the Borad , the manager did not reject this aspect, adding that it was a contingency plan that every team do to replace nay played in case of injury. “It does not mean that any player of the team is injured or not fit,” he argued.

Earlier Indian News Agency Press Trust of India reported that Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir and Azhar have been put on standby for world cup in case of any injury to any member of World Cup squad, Indian News Agency reported.

The report also said that the PCB official had informed the source that Sohaib Maqsood, Ehsan Adil and Wahab Riaz were the players facing some fitness issues and were being monitored closely, the official said.

A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board told Press Trust of India that the PCB has decided to keep three players on standby in case of any injury to 15 members squad.

All-rounder Shoaib Malik and top-order batsman Azhar Ali, and pace bowler Sohail Tanvir have all been put on standby.

The decision was made after consultations with chief selector Moin Khan and the team management in New Zealand, the source said.
