Altaf Hussain condemns “Rangers’ maltreatment of Ahmed Chinoy”

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain came out in open defence of CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, whose residence was raided by Rangers in early Tuesday morning over his alleged contacts with kidnappers demanding hefty amount as ransom for release of 24-year-old abductee Laraib.

Altaf Hussain on Tuesday condemned ‘maltreatment of Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy by para-military forces Rangers’ which raided his Defence residence in Karachi over alleged contacts with kidnappers reportedly demanded Rs20 lakh as ransom for releasing a 24-year-old boy Laraib.

Altaf Hussain while talking to reporters in MQM London Secretariat said that leveling allegations on CPLC chief was a condemnable action as Rangers’ officials maltreated Ahmed Chinoy.

He questioned Pakistani authorities, ‘ Will Muhajirs ever be considered as Pakistan? Is Muhajir holding a right to be entitled as a honourable citizen?. He said that Memories of 1992’s military operation have been refreshed.

MQM chief said that Ahmed Chinoy was performing his during in accordance to given tasks to make all efforts for releasing abductees and arresting kidnappers.3

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Sindh Rangers raided the residence of Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chenoi, local media reported.

The reports said the Rangers raided the CPLC chief house for allegedly detaining a kidnapped boy’s mother at his residence.

The reports claimed that Rs 1.5 million and mother of the kidnapped person were also recovered from the house of the CPLC chief.

The paramilitary force alleged that the CPLC chief detained a kidnapped person mother at CPLC Office and negotiated with the kidnappers for the release of the abductee against ransom.

However, the CPLC chief Ahmed Chenoi rejected the allegations, asserting that all the allegations were baseless and false.

The Rangers said that a youth was kidnapped from New Karachi who was recovered by Rangers.

Regarding the Rangers raid, the CPLC chief said that the Rangers did not raided his house, rather they returned from outside his house.
