US President visit to region to help reduce tension says Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz has said that peace in the region is in the interest of everyone and also hoped that US President Barack Obama’s visit to South Asia will help reduce tension in the region.

He was talking to media in the federal capital on Sunday.

The advisor said Pakistan had apprised US Secretary of State John Kerry that cherished goal of progress and prosperity in the region cannot be achieved without good relations between Pakistan and India adding that peace in the region is in the interests of everyone.

To a query, the advisor said sports diplomacy plays important role in improving ties.

In a reply of a question, the advisor said US Secretary of State John Kerry was apprised of Pakistan’s reservations on various issues during his recent visit to Islamabad.
