ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the National Action Plan (NAP) is being implemented to eliminate terrorism.
Twenty convicted criminals have been executed so far since the launch of the NAP which includes 14 in Punjab, 5 in Sindh and one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
As many as 5487 search operations have been conducted in Punjab as against 322 in Sindh, 1223 in KP, 12 in Balochistan and 275 in Islamabad.
Around 33591 people were searched in stop and search at check-posts in Punjab, 2887 in KP, 20 in Balochistan and 484 in Islamabad.
958 people have been arrested so far in Punjab, 244 in Sindh, 234 in KP, 188 in Balochistan and 235 in Islamabad.
436 people were identified for hate speech in Punjab and 17 in KP. Out of these 329 were arrested in Punjab while 10 in KP.
For the misuse of loudspeakers 2837 cases were registered in Punjab out of which 1471 were arrested. 14 people were arrested in Islamabad on this charge.
In Punjab 41 shops have been sealed, hate material has been confiscated from 1085 places and 166,000 Afghan refugees have been registered.
On charges of glorification of terrorism Punjab is the only province where legislation is in process in this regard. Punjab is also the only province where media consultation has been started.
Appreciating the efforts of the government of Punjab in this regard the Prime Minister also asked other provinces to implement NAP in its letter and spirit in order to eradicate the menace of terrorism and extremism from the country.
The premier said the government would provide necessary resources for the capacity building of law enforcement agencies in all parts of the country.
