Petrol sale in bottles, gallons banned in Lahore under Sec 144

LAHORE: District Administration Lahore on Tuesday banned selling petrol in bottles and cans under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) amid the debilitating crisis of petrol shortage spreading all over the country.

As the petrol crisis entered into second week, there are reports that people have started selling petrol in black-market at higher prices.

Amid these reports, DCO Lahore on Tuesday imposed Section 144 to ban selling of petrol in bottles and gallons to discourage black-marketing and sale of petrol at roadside stalls at higher prices.

Soon after the crisis hit the provincial metropolis and petrol pumps have dried up, many roadside stalls have emerged in Lahore, where petrol is being sold at inflated prices, in some area at Rs400 per litre, to masses.
