Sindh Govt bans pillion riding for three days

KARACHI: Sindh government on Monday banned pillion riding in metropolis, media reported.

The provincial home ministry said that ban on pillion riding has been imposed for three days starting from Tuesday night 12:00 am to Thursday.

The ministry further said that the government has taken decision for ensure security in wake of anti polio drive.

The provincial government on advice of police has announced ban on the pillion riding in the city.

 Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo recommended the Sindh government to ban pillion riding for three days to carry on anti-polio campaign in sensitive areas of Karachi.

The recommendation was made following the violent incident took place against polio campaigners who survived safe in a violent attack while vaccinating children underway in densely populated Banaras area of Aurangi Town situated in the metropolis Karachi on Monday morning.

A policeman sustained serious injuries deployed to provide security to anti-polio campaigners, however, the vaccination campaign in UC 6 Banaras has been stopped following the violent attack by unknown assailants.

The incident took place in Banaras Colony area of Aurangi Town while the injured official was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment later he succumbed to injures in the hospital. The deceased police official was identified as Tabassum.

The provincial government has issued notification in this regard.

It is pertinent to mention here that the government also had banned pillion ridding in last month for two days on the eve of Jashne-Eid-e Millad un Nabi (PBUH).
