Punjab govt to generate 1,000 MW electricity from LNG

LAHORE: The Punjab Government has decided to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity from liquefied natural gas.

This was stated by Punjab Chief Mian Muhammad Minister Shahbaz Sharif at a meeting with a German delegation in Lahore on Saturday.
Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan needs energy to strengthen its industry and economy and Punjab has great potential for investment in the energy sector.

The Chief Minister said work is underway on the coal-based power projects in collaboration with China. He said the first 100-MW Solar Power Plant is nearing completion.
He said the federal government is also implementing a project of gas transmission line from Karachi to rest of the country for LNG.
