WASHINGTON: US Central Command Twitter account (@centcom) was apprantely hacked by the militant outfit Islamic State (IS) supporters on Monday as pro-ISIS message were clearly seen on the account’s profile, foreign reports said. However, the account has been suspended by Twitter administration.
US @Centcom was apparently hacked by militant group ISIS supporters which published pro-ISIS messages on the account, calling it ‘Cyber Jihad’ by ‘Cyber Caliphate’. Moreover, Centcom’s YouTube page was also apparently hacked.
The first message was posted before at least 39 minutes (Pakistani time), saying, ‘AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK. ISIS.” and the hashtag “#CyberCaliphate.”
Profile photo was poster which includes the text “i love you isis.” while ET profile and banner images were reverted to their default view. A U.S. Defense official told NBC News the Centcom Twitter account had “clearly been hacked.”
According to CNBC, later messages included images of what were apparently spreadsheets labeled as containing the contact info and home addresses of retired U.S. army generals. Other tweets claimed to include military plans from Pentagon networks. One such image showed a map of China with labels of different military assets.
Another message read “ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base.”
