Pakistan govt seeks PTI flexibility on ‘three points’ for JC formation

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Friday urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to show flexibility in his stance and agree with the government’s three small demands in the way of constituting judicial commission.

Talking to media in Islamabad, he congratulated Imran Khan for his wedding, and said that it is time to start new beginning politically as well. He said that all political parties need to sit together and take the country out of economic, security and energy challenges.

The finance minister said the government has already accepted 80 to 85 percent agenda of PTI, now it was time for Imran Khan to agree with the government’s demands.

He told that in last meeting of the government-PTI dialogue, the government had asked PTI to drop wordings of ‘designed rigging’ from the draft letter, and give up its demand of bringing all election petitions and appeals to the judicial commission.

Ishaq Dar said that the government also asked PTI to protect the laws by which 2013 elections were held because it was not only a matter between PTI and the government, but there were 21 other parties in the parliament. He said that both the sides will have to set their aspirations aside and keep the legal aspects, the parliament, and its stakeholders in consideration.

He said that the government also agreed to PTI’s demand to replace the old ordinance with a new one for the constitution of judicial commission. He said that the government never had been a part of any elections conspiracy.

Ishaq Dar said if PTI shows flexibility and agrees to three points, the government would immediately write for the constitution of judicial commission.
