LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq while felicitating Imran Khan over his marriage said that Khan’s marriage gave a reason to the nation to be happy in an sad and grim atmosphere and prevailing lawlessness.
Sirajul Haq, who is considered very close to Khan, wishes him best of luck in his new phase of life, saying that may Allah Mighty bless the news couple with peace, pleasures, happiness in their life.
On the other hand, former cricket greats also felicitated Imran Khan over his second marriage.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General PTI and close friend of PTI chief, Imran Ismail said that the Nikkah was held in a simple ceremony due to the atmosphere of grief and sadness after Peshawar massacre.
He said that there was a plan of gran wedding ceremony, but it had to be cencelled after Peshawar tragedy.
Meanwhile, Mufti Saeed, who administered Nikkah (marriage contract) of PTI chief Imran Khan with anchorperson Reham Khan, officially announced the marriage on behalf of the newly-wed couple.
Talking to media persons outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence, Mufti Saeed said that Imran Khan had asked him to inform the media waiting outside the house on his behalf that he had formally tied the knot with Reham Khan.
Mufti Saeed said that one lakh rupees was fixed as Mehar. He added that Awn Chaudhry and Zakir Khan acted as witnesses on behalf of Imran Khan.
When media asked whether Imran’s sisters attended his wedding ceremony, Mufti Saeed replied that some women attended the Nikah ceremony but he did not recognize her sisters.
He further said that the Nikah was solemnized in a simple and low-profile ceremony, where no political figures participated.
