ISTANBUL: At least two police officers sustained injuries following an explosive at a police station reportedly carried out by a female suicide bomber in historic area of Istanbul, foreign news agency reported on Tuesday.
Governor of Istanbul Vasip Sahin said that a female suicide bomber detonated herself while attacking on a police station that injured two officers.
Turkey’s NTV channel reported that the attacker detonated a hand grenade while CNN Turk claimed that officers exchanged gunfire with the attacker.
Istanbul police confirmed that one officer sustained serious injuries while the vicinity of the attack was sealed off and public transportation has been suspended.

Earlier, an unsuccessful grenade attack was carried out on a police booth situated near the Prime Minister’s office in Istanbul which was later claimed by Turkish far-left group DHKP-C.
Fortunately, the grenade did not explode but the suspect attempted to shoot at police officers with a gun and a long-barreled weapon, according to police. However, the suspected was arrested last Thursday.
