Foundation stone laid for ‘World’s third biggest mosque’ in Pakistan

KARACHI: The foundation stone of the Grand Mosque at Bahria Town near Super Highway in Karachi, which will be the third biggest mosque of the world after Masjid-ul-Haram and Masjid-e-Nabawi, was laid on Tuesday evening.

It was laid by a 70-year-old labourer of Bahria Town, Nosherwan Khan.

The General Manager (GM) construction Bahria Town informed media that the mosque would be constructed on an area of two lakhs square feet, adding that the construction will be completed in five years.

The mosque will have the capacity of accommodating 200,000 people at a time .

The Bahria Town management also informed media that an Islamic University, library and research center will also be established adjacent to the mosque.

The aged labourer and his family were also awarded a precious visit to the Holy land of Mecca for Umrah sponsored by the Bahria Town.
