Coal mine blast kills three in Hangu

HANGU:  Three laborers of coal mine on Tuesday night were killed in a blast which occurred in a mine situated in Orakzai Agency area of Hangu.

The ill-fated labourers’ bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Mine blasts are common in many countries of the world which are caused by poisonous gases present in mines.

Three days ago, at least 17 labourers were buried alive as a marble quarry collapsed at the Ziarat mine in Safi tehsil in the Mohmand Agency.

The incident took  place at Khanqah mountain when workers were busy loading trucks.

The Ziarat marble mine produces the famous Ziarat white marble that is much in demand in the country.

The mine owners and workers often use rudimentary methods to extract marble from the mines.
