Pakistan shortlists ‘third opener’ for World Cup squad

KARACHI:  Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee conducted an informal meeting in Karachi and considered names for 20-member squad for World Cup 2015, local media reported.

It is likely that third opener will be included in the squad. The official announcement for the squad will be made on January 6.

The three possible players likely to be sent as the third opener are Shoaib Malik, Nasir Jamshed and Sohaib Maqsood.

The ICC has set January 7 deadline for final squad announcement.

Probable final 15 member squad for the World Cup:

Misbah-ul-Haq (Skipper), Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shahzad, Sarfarad Ahmed, Younis Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Hafeez, Junaid Khan, Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Gul, Kamran Akmal.
