PML-N govt likely to form PTI-style judicial commission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has reportedly agreed to form judicial commission in accordance of proposal forwarded by protesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), local media reported.

Pakistan government showed agreement on demands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for formation of judicial commission to probe alleged vote rigging during 2013’s general election, the report claimed.

JC formation

PTI-styled judicial commission is likely to be formed within next two days, report quoted sources. It is said to be most prominent development to end govt-PTI conflict after emergence of deadlock on three points of  the JC draft during last phase of negotiations which ended up without ‘breakthrough’.

The decision would definitely help PML-N government to bring back PTI in the National Assembly to approve the National Action Plan against terrorism and extremism.

However, official confirmation from PML-N and PTI is due as far.

The decision was reportedly taken during All Parties’ Conference (APC) organised in Islamabad on Friday (today) which was chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to review all aspects of anti-terrorism plan.

Earlier, Political opponents, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), were apparently seen inflexible to finalising a proposal for the formation of judicial commission to probe alleged vote rigging in 2013’s general election.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday (today) alleged that PML-N’s formula for JC formation would not reveal vote rigging even it is proved via thorough investigation.

Imran Khan insisted that if PML-N not involved in vote rigging than they must take a step forward to form JC by formula suggested by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

He claimed that formation of the judicial commission in accordance to PTI’s formula could not fear anyone who was not involved in vote rigging.

On the other hand, the PML-N’s government negotiator, Ahsan Iqbal, announced that the federal government was ready to constitute a judicial commission to probe alleged vote rigging but the situation turned uncertain after emergence of differences on remaining three points.

Ahsan Iqbal made the announcement after another round of talks between the government and PTI dialogue committees in Islamabad.

However, the ongoing dialogues which started with the claims ‘break-through’ has contrarily entered into deadlock phase over differences on three points of the draft constituted to form JC.
