Death warrants of seven convicts including Al-Qaeda man issued

KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism Court on Saturday issued death warrants of seven convicts including an Al-Qaeda man, who have already been handed down death sentences by trial courts and have exhausted all forums of appeal.

The Al-Qaeda man Zulfiqar Ali had been given death sentence for killing a two police men including a police sub-inspector  outside UN Consulate in Karachi. Zulfiqar will be hanged in Rawalpindi on January 13, 2013.

The other convicts of proscribed organisations whose death warrant have been issued, include Muhammad Talha, Khalil Ahmed, Shahid Hanif, Shafqat, Behram Khan, and Muhammad Saeed.

Shahid Hanif and Khalil Ahmed will be hanged on January 13 in Sukkur, while Behram Khan on Jan 13, Shafqat on Jan 14 and Muhammad Saeed will be hanged on January 15 at Karachi’s Central Prison.

Convict Muhammad Talha will be hanged on January 15 in Sukkur.
