Military leadership is standing with the nation in elimination of terrorism from country: COAS  

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has underscored the need for prompt implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism and militancy.

He expressed his views on occasion of 178th Corps Commanders conference, which was presided over by COAS at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The corps commanders also vowed to continue war in country till the elimination of last terrorist.
Meanwhile Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has said that the military leadership is standing with the nation in elimination of terrorism from country. He said the national action plan would be implemented so that the country could get rid of menace of terrorism as soon as possible. 

“Participants of the conference expressed grief over tragic loss of innocent lives in Peshawar terrorist attack, solidarity with bereaved families and resolved not to stop operations till elimination of last terrorist from our soil,” according to ISPR.
ISPR said the forum reviewed internal and external security situation in the country with particular focus on the ongoing operations.
“Recent upsurge in Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) across the country was also reviewed and its effects appreciated,” ISPR said in a statement following the meeting.
“Appreciating the resolve of the national political leadership shown during the All Parties Conference, COAS said that entire nation was looking towards political and military leadership of the country to take bold and meaningful decisions leading to stern action against terrorists and their sympathizers.”
“Much wanted and precious wider political consensus achieved against terrorism is not lost to smaller issues, the participants hoped. Key lies in all institutions joining hands for an effective and prompt implementation of a comprehensive National Action Plan without having to lose any further time, he emphasized,” according to ISPR.
The statement further said COAS also reviewed the homework done by all concerned for execution of their respective assigned tasks listed in the National Action Plan and directed them to follow strict time lines.
The Army Chief appreciated the resolve of the national political leadership shown during the All Parties Conference.
General Raheel Sharif said the key lies in all institutions joining hands for an effective and prompt implementation of a comprehensive National Action Plan without having to lose any further time.
Sources said that during the meeting, General Raheel took the corps commanders into confidence over the national action plan agreed upon by the country’s political stakeholders.
He further said that for the National Action Plan to progress efficiently and speedily, cooperation of all institutions was the key to success.
The participants endorsed the plan and vowed that the army would work side by side with the citizens of Pakistan to counter the scourge of terrorism.
In Thursday’s meeting, source said, army commanders also discussed overall steps being taken to punish militants as well as convicted terrorists under the 20-point National Action Plan.
The Corps Commanders also reviewed progress in military operations underway in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency where Taliban and other militants groups have taken refuge fleeing the offensive.
Also, the commanders discussed fresh tension with India at the Line of Control and Sialkot Working Boundary.
