Imran Khan clarifies ‘rumoured remarriage’, says waiting for ‘appropriate time’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday clarified that his marriage reports were not more than rumours.

Imran Khan while talking to reporters said that he was waiting for an ‘appropriate time’ to remarry. He added that the decision of second marriage was quite serious.

PTI chairman said that he expressed his wish to remarry in public during PTI sit-in lodged in Islamabad. He expressed his deep sorrows over Peshawar attack on Army Public School, where more than 150 students and staff members were killed by insurgents.

Earlier on December 31, Imran Khan’s sibling, Aleema Khan, has strongly rejected the reports of her brother’s marriage with former BBC weather girl Reham Khan. Aleema refuted all reports regarding alleged secret marriage of her brother with the mother-of-three Reham Khan. She clarified that the Khan family was still searching out a ‘suitable woman’ for Imran’s marriage.

She termed it a part of conspiracies by political opponents of Imran Khan which were trying to damage his popularity. The clarification came just after Imran Khan’s Twitter message, said, ‘The reports of my marriage are greatly exaggerated.’

Rumours started circulating during last afew days about Imran Khan’s secretly remarriage with a journalist Reham Khan who  had worked for British organisation although family members were against the marriage, reports say. According to British media reports, Imran Khan and Reham Khan tied the knot despite knowing that Imran’s family was against the marriage.

A family friend said that relatives including his sisters were against the marriage and were surprised when he went ahead. It is believed family members and those in his political party tried to dissuade him out of the marriage.

However, the couple are yet to make an official announcement which will apparently be made in the New Year. Renowned journalist and senior anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood said  that Imran is neither denying nor admitting the marriage news. He is one of the close friend of PTI chairman and he said party has confirmed that Reham wants to get actively involved with his politics and sees herself a future first lady.

On the other hand, Imran’s ex-wife Jemima ‘Khan’ had revealed in October 2014 that she was changing her surname ‘Khan’ via reverting to her family surname to Jemima Goldsmith because her ex-husband Imran Khan was about to remarry.

She said at the time: ‘My ex-husband, Imran, recently announced that he intended to get remarried soon, which made me think it’s probably time to change my name back to Goldsmith.’

Amid all these rumours, the issue was also raised by internet abusers when some some vulgar photos emerged on social media websites branding it as ‘Imran’s new wife’.

Online abusers have set up Facebook hate pages attacking TV news anchor Reham Khan and her family after it was rumoured that she had married Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

According to famous British news  paper Daily Mail, the photos were posted on the social media side Facebook in which Reham Khan can be seen in vulgar dressed in the lights of Islam.

The group also posted a sexual photo of Imran’s new wife with a caption “Reham drunk at private party rubbing a woman’s back, Is she a lesbian now?”

Reham-Khan

Thwarting such abusive posts, Former BBC journalist Reham Khan immediately denied the pictures and said that she has been rewarded with photoshoped images and lies for working away from her home for two year.

The reaction came from Reham following the haters attacked her by posting vulgar pictures over the news of alleged marriage with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

She via Twitter message denied the photos, said, ‘ For working hard for 2 years in Pakistan, for being separated from my family, for loving Pakistan I am rewarded by Photoshop images & lies.’ ‘ I have only received love & appreciation by Pakistanis. A handful of people with a personal agenda is not all Pakistan,’ she added.
