Ishaq Dar phones MQM leader to express grief over Timber Market blaze

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday (today) evening telephoned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Babar Ghauri and expressed grief over hundreds of people’s property loss in Karachi Timber Market blaze.

The Minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken a notice of destructive blaze and ensured that the federal government will provide every possible help to victims of the blaze.

It is pertinent to mention here that dangerous fire had erupted in the local timber market of the metropolis during very early hours of Sunday, which later rated as level three categories. However, no casualties were reported in the incident as far.

The fire also engulfed nearby residential building in the densely populated area.  Later blaze in Timber Market located in Old Haji Camp had been controlled after hour’s long battle by fire fighters in Karachi.

According to reports, the fire initially caught by one of the building at midnight which rapidly spread to nearby buildings majorly are warehouses where timber is stored for the furniture manufacturing industry.

Fire fighters’ chief said that the cooling process would take hours underway on the incident’s site.

Moreover, Sindh government has formed a committee to investigate the incident besides preparing estimate of financial loss.
