Pakistani parliament to approve APC decisions next week

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Parliament to approve the decisions taken by the All parties Conference (APC) as a joint sitting of both upper and lower houses is expected during next week.

The joint sitting of Parliament after the holding an APC on Peshawar incident, would approve the decision taken for the constitution of special courts headed by armed forces officials for speedy hearings of cases.

Joint sitting would pass a resolution regarding Reforms in Madrassahs, FATA along with the national campaign against terrorism and extremism. Parliament would also approve the bills of proposed rules regarding the national security and 20 points National Strategy to ensure the security of the country.

After the approval of joint sitting of Parliament the National Strategy would be implemented with immediate effect in the country as new year 2015 is being declared the “Year of Peace”.

It is worth mentioning here that all parties’ conference on Wednesday had issued a joint notification for the elimination of terrorism.

According to the notification, the maddaris (religious institutions) would be registered and activities of the extremist organisations would be stopped. NECTA would be made reformed and restructured. Provocative speeches and publication and distribution of extremist material would be stopped.

The trial of the extremists would be finalised and given judgement over as soon as possible and no extremist organisation would be allowed to operate in the country. The operation in Karachi to restore peace would continue until the motives are achieved.

Moreover, the communication system of terrorists would be destroyed and a policy would be formulated for the safe return and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Terrorist organisations trying to operate in the country with different names would also be banned.

Furthermore, the misuse of social media and internet by terrorists would be stopped.

All the political parties agreed to the constitution of special trial courts manned by army officers for two years by introducing amendment in the constitution. These courts would expeditiously deal with the cases of terrorists in specified timeframe.

To achieve this objective, all the leaders agreed to the making of the requisite amendments in the relevant laws and Constitution.
