ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday issued directives to Finance Ministry and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to take immediate measures to stop funding to terrorists and chock the routes and accounts supplying funds to those who are wagging war against the state of Pakistan.
Chairing a high level meeting at Prime Minister’s House for implementation of the National Action Plan approved by the national political leadership to root out terrorism from the country in the wake of December 16 barbaric attack on Army Public School Peshawar, the Prime Minister said that as the national political leadership had given a clear road map to the government, it was now the responsibility of the government to implement the plan in letter and spirit.
He said that chocking the supply lines of funding for terrorists was of utmost importance in successful fight against terrorists. He ordered the Finance Minister and SBP to take measures to close suspicious bank accounts and other funding channels so that the fight could be take to its logical conclusion as soon as possible.
It is to be mentioned here that the National Action Plan Committee constituted by the All Parties Conference held at Governor on December 17 had prepared a 20-point National Action Plan to root out terrorism from the country, which was also approved by the national political leadership at a follow-up APC held at Prime Minister’s House on December 24.
