Brendon McCullum blitz takes New Zealand to 429/7 on day one

CHRISTCHURCH: New Zealand skippe Brendon McCullum scored a big hundred on the day one of their first Test against Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval here on Friday. 

He scored 195 off just 134 balls, hitting 18 fours and 11 sixes, guiding his team to 429 for seven after they had lost their first three wickets for 88.

New Zealand scored at a run rate of 5.32.

Kane Williamson scored 54 and JDS Neesham made 85 with three sixes.

Captain Angelo Mathews took two wickets. Sri Lanka’s main bowler Rangana Herath is not playing due to an injury.
