GHQ meeting: COAS directs immediate implementation of anti-terrorism plan

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif on Thursday chaired high level meeting in General Headquarter (GHQ) which discussed security situation of the country, ISPR said.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting chaired by COAS considered role of intelligence agencies as per  national action plan finalized by the government on Wednesday (yesterday).

The Army Chief directed concerned authorities to implement national action plan effectively and immediately and speed up intelligence.

The meeting also praised the government resolved to end terrorism from the country and also appreciated reformation and administrative measures taken by the government.

At the occasion the Gen Raheel said that the army will root out menace of terrorism from its roots from the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that the government in parliamentary leaders meeting on Wednesday with consensus of all political parties of the country approved twenty points national action plan to end terrorism and extremism from the country.

Yesterday meeting was also attended by the COAS and DG Inter Services Intelligence Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar.

The government has taken measure against terrorism in wake of barbaric attack on Army Public School in Peshawar in which 149 persons including 134 children martyred on December 16.
