GAZA: Israeli military carried out aerial and ground attacks in southern Gaza after an alleged attack on its border patrol forces, a foreign news agency reported on Wednesday.
Airstrike and tank fire were launched in southern Gaza today by Israeli military following an alleged attack on border troops moving inside Israeli territory that came under fire from a sniper from Palestinian side.
A Hamas militant has been killed in the attacks, the army and Palestinian medics told AFP.
Israeli army stated that there was an air strike and one by a tank immediately carried out against the targets in response to the firing “at our forces who were east of the fence in the southern Gaza Strip. We carried out immediate attacks against the relevant targets.”
Hamas sources confirmed that the deceased was a member of the movement’s military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades. Palestinian medical sources said that the attacks claimed life of Tayseer al-Ismary, 33, who died after being hit by a bullet.
