RAQQA, Syria: Islamic State (IS) militants have published photos showing the captured alive Jordanian pilot, Mu’ath Safi Yousef al-Kaseasbeh, standing half-naked after a F-16 warplane crashed near Raqqa city of Syria on Wednesday.
IS militant group claimed that the Jordanian F-16 jet was brought down near Raqqa city of Syria while they captured alive the pilot along with their military documents. The fighter jet was reportedly assistant US-led coalition strikes in militant-held areas of Syria.
Jordanian military confirmed that a fighter jet crashed but they were not clarified whether it was brought down on crashed due to any technical fault, foreign media reported.
Jordan’s released a statement saying that that ‘one of our warplanes crashed’ during a military mission against the Islamic State group on Wednesday morning while ‘the pilot was taken hostage by the Daesh (IS) terrorist organization.’
Foreign reports claimed that the warplane was shot down by the IS fighters near the northern Syrian city of Raqqa. However, it was first of its kind that a foreign soldier fell into hands of the militants group which was tasked to continue airstrikes against extremists.
Photos released by the militants clearly showing an injured pilot who was surrounded apparently inside a lake and taken somewhere else after being unclothed by IS fighters.
Raqqa Media Center said that IS fighters have started a mission to search out a probable second pilot.
It is noteworthy to mention here that the US-led coalition strikes were continued since September 23 by the United States and several Arab allies including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Qatari logistical support against Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
