Army chief seeks enforcement of strict anti-terror laws

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that strict laws and effective steps are needed to overcome terrorism from country adding that  the operations of Pakistan army are successfully moving forward against the terrorists in North Waziristan and Khyber Agencies. 

During the session of Parliamentarians in Prime Minister House Islamabad, the COAS Raheel Sharif briefed that the army has launched different operations against the terrorists. Zarb-e-Azb and Operation Khyber-1 are continuing successfully.
The Army Chief told the members of the Parliament that the operation will continue till the threat of terrorism is wiped out from the country and therefore, strict laws and effective measures are required.

Gen Raheel said the operation Zarb-e-Azb will continue till the menace of terrorism is rooted out from the country.He said NACTA should immediately be made functional for rooting out menace of terrorism from country.
 He also informed the parliamentary leaders that U.S. Air Force (USAF) and Afghan forces have assured their full support. The operation carried out by USAF and Afghan forces against Taliban is also moving ahead successfully.
 
According to General Raheel Sharif so far 2100 terrorists have been killed in the operation, however, 190 soldiers have been martyred.
He informed that the operation by ISAF and Afghan forces is also progressing with full force.
Measures are required against unregistered madrassas and fundamental amendments should be made in the Anti-terrorism laws. General Raheel Sharif said that a stern message should be conveyed to the foreign elements involved in the terrorism.
General Raheel called for enforcement of strict laws and effective measures for an end to militancy and terrorism in Pakistan.
The army chief said that political backing of the military is vital for a decisive fight against terrorism.
 He said Pakistan army has rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism. He said the cooperation of political parties is required against terrorism.
