250 terrorists to be given death penalties in first phase

ISLAMABAD: The government has speed up arrangements to hang death penalty holders and it is likely that 250 terrorists will be given death penalty in first phase. Out of 250, 78 are of high profile terrorists included in the list.

Sources said that Muhammad Aqeel alias Dr Usman involved in GHQ attack will be executed death penalty very first.

He was a fugitive of army medical core and later joined Taliban as well as had planned attack on GHQ.

It is pertinent to mention here that in a meeting between Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after barbaric attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, the COAS has advised the PM to implement death penalties immediately.

Now the government has approved to hang death penalty holders.

The interior ministry has started work on implementing the death penalty as interior ministry will send mercy appeals of the death penalty holders to President and on Tuesday the president had rejected as many as  17 mercy appeals.

The whole of procedure will take one week time and it is likely that within a week the implementation on death penalty sentences will start.
