LAHORE: Geo News senior reporter Ameen Hafeez and cameraman were injured at Chairing Cross of Lahore, when some unknown people from among PTI workers, who had gathered there to listen to party chief Imran Khan’s address, targeted him with ‘Kanche’ (solid glass ball) through stone-bow (Gulail).
Ameen Hafeez was giving cover to Geo News senior anchorperson Sana Mirza, who was being pelted with empty water bottles and stick. During this, he was hit on the head and consequently he collapsed on the DSNG van, atop from it they were covering the PTI rally.
Hafeez was immediately rushed to nearby hospital.
Earlier, Â Senior Geo News anchorperson Sana Mirza burst into tears when she was giving live beeper, after misbehavior by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers at Lahore Chairing Cross, who pelted her and other Geo team with sticks and empty water bottles.
Sana Mirza was covering PTI’s lock-down in Lahore, who was continuously harassed and slogans were chanted against her and her media group by the PTI workers.
In the evening,  when she was giving live beeper in Hamid Mir’s Capital Talk show, she was pelted with sticks and water bottles amid hostile sloganeering. The PTI workers besieged the DSNG van, atop from it Sana was covering the PTI rally.
Though she braved the hostile situation for hour bravely, but at last she burst into tears when she giving live beeper.
Senior analysts Ansar Abbasi, Asma Sherazi, Fareeha Idrees strongly condemned the ill treatment and misbehavior with Sana Mirza.
Senior PTI leader Naeemul Haq while talking in the show via phone condemned the PTI workers who misbehaved with Sana Mirza. He promised that he would investigate the matter and took the responsible to task.
