Country paying the economic price because of PTI protests and sit-ins: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development, Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal has said the country has been paying the economic price because of PTI protests and sit-ins.
Talking to media in Islamabad, he said Imran Khan intentionally chose the cities to shutdown, which produce 80 percent exports of the country.
Ahsan Iqbal said the government is working on an economic and development program and to carry out with that agenda, it needs peace and political stability. He said it is a time when all political forces should utilize all its energies on development and reforms, but unfortunately the politics of protests and sit-ins is creating hurdles.
Regarding the government-PTI talks, the minister said we, honestly and whole heartedly, are participating in the dialogue, however, the other side also need to exhibit its seriousness. He said PTI should give up its agenda of protests and concentrate on talks. He urged the two sides to avoid use of provocative statements and said the talks should move forward in a conducive environment to yield results.
Regarding three deaths in Lahore because of PTI shutdown, Ahsan Iqbal said the responsibility goes to PTI leadership. He said the government from very beginning has tried its best to avoid mayhem, however, Imran Khan is doing the politics bloodshed.
