Processions were taken out and majalis were held in every nook and corner of the country to mark the 40th day to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA).Foolproof security arrangements were made for the main Chehlum procession in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and other cities of the country. Ban on pillion riding was imposed in major cities Sindh, Punjab, KPK and Balochistan.
According to sources, the ban on pillion riding was imposed to counter possible security threats on the occasion of Chehlum. Moreover police officials were deployed at sensitive areas in all major cities.
Processions were organized in different cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar and Quetta. The mourners paid rich homage to the martyrs of Karbala by reciting Nohas.
