Special medical team forced to leave famine-hit Tharparkar

THARPARKAR: Administration and Police in Tharparkar on Thursday threw out a team comprising of 200 doctors which was sent on the instructions of Governor Sindh from Liaqut University Hospital to provide medical aid to famine-hit Tharparkar

The doctors said that the team was reached to provide medical aid to drought hit residents of Tharparkar adding that police and administration ordered the team to leave the area within three hours time.

They said that it was first time that big team of doctors, professors and students were reached to provide relief to drought hit residents of the area.

They said that women doctors were harassed by the attitude showed by the administration and police.

Earlier, the rescue team comprising 200 doctors from Liaquat Medical University on Wednesday had reached Tharparkar.

Dr Noshad was leading the team and the team had to set up medical rescue camp in different areas in Tharparkar for four days.

He had said that due to poverty mothers were weak and they did not get proper nutrition from pregnancy to delivery. Hence children were faced with malnutrition.
