ISLAMABAD: The newly-appointed Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan on Thursday sought the cooperation of all political parties to implement electoral reforms for ensuring free, fair and transparent elections.
According to privet Express News TV channel, a delegation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) called on the new CEC in Islamabad. The PPP delegation assured the CEC of its full cooperation for implementation of electoral reforms and introduction of biometric system.
The PPP delegation also requested the CEC for early local bodies elections in the country.
On the occasion, PPP Secretary General Latif Khosa said that like PTI, they had also reservation over Election Commission provincial members hence, they should resign on moral grounds.
Khosa said that the powers of CEC and members of ECP should not be equal, calling for more powers for CEC than the members.
The CEC thanked the PPP delegation for extending its cooperation and support to ECP for electoral reforms, saying that the ECP needs cooperation and support of all political parties for implementation of electoral reforms to ensure free and fair elections in the country.
