Govt offers unconditional dialogues with PTI

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday announced that the federal government agreed for resuming dialogues with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Ishaq Dar while talking to reporters in Islamabad said that the upcoming phase of negotiations should be made ‘decisive’ but not for time wasting. He added that the dialogues will be held within boundaries of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Dar claimed that he was shocked when PTI leadership rejected to be returned into assemblies if the government declared clear from rigging allegations by judicial commission.

He said that the current press conference was being conducted for a clarification from the government before resumption of dialogues with PTI.

He urged PTI to not wishing for any unconstitutional demands in negotiations.

The PMLN leader said that the government formed a two-member dialogues committee comprising of Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar and Minister for Planning Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal. He added the decision was taken on approval of PM Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) core committee members.

Ishaq Dar claimed that PTI leadership was being contacted by the government officials since last two hours. However, government would try to commence dialogues before dates announced for PTI protests.

He welcomed Imran Khan for taking back his ‘unconstitutional demand’ for PM resignation and the PTI chief took initiative to resume dialogues ‘which was suspended by him but not from government side.’

While answering to a question on the occasion, he appealed Imran Khan to delay PTI protests in the country for indefinite period in order to void any disruption in negotiations.
