Islamic State punishes man for blasphemy in Syria

BEIRUT: The militant organisation Islamic State beheaded a man amid a crowd allegedly found guilty in blasphemy in northern Syria, the militant website and a rights group claimed on Tuesday.

IS militant beheaded a man in a public square in Sulouk town on Monday before a crowd including children, according to British-based Observatory for Human Rights.

IS beheaded and stoned to death several people including a smaller number of foreign captives in Syria and Iraq in past over accusations of adultery, stealing and blasphemy which were seen as violation of their interpretation of Islamic laws.

According to the militant website, the deceased man admitted his crime before being beheaded in Raqqa province.
