KARACHI: Former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has called for creating small federating units in the country for good governance and better service delivery in the country.
The former president and army chief was addressing Youth Parliament in Karachi.
He said that the country had enormous potential, talent, resources and skills but no government ever tried to develop.
The former army chief said “I am proud to say that only military governments worked for economic betterment.”
Musharraf said that the country has faced with many challenges and Pakistan should be standing on its feet and gets prominent position in the world.
He said: ‘We did not need anyone help adding the country economy needed to be strengthened first and in absence of better economic conditions nothing could be improved’.
Musharraf said that no government could run the state without check and balance.
The former army chief said that he had made National Security Council (NSC) to place a check and balance, adding that he did not need NSC and he just wanted to maintain check and balance. But the check and balance system was ended with 18th amendment.
He said that the bids started in 50’s and 60’s to spread ciaos in the country from the western borders.
