CEC is most powerless person of Pakistan: Chaudhry Brothers

KARACHI: Central leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), Chauhdry Shujaat and Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi, on Thursday rejected the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by terming him ‘the most powerless person of the country.’

Chaudhry Shujaat said that PMLQ not consulted over CEC by Opposition Leader or the government over appointment of Justice Sardar Raza Khan as new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The leader said that the appointment of CEC was not the major issue but the changing of governance system in the country.

Lodging first political attack on newly appointed CEC, he said that CEC and Governor of Punjab were ‘powerless personalities’ of Pakistan.

It is noteworthy to mention here that Chaudhry Brothers were paying visit to Karachi seeking political powers’ assistance to merge different factions of Muslim League in United Muslim League.

Shujaat refuted allegations for supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan. However, Shujaat claimed to observe ‘major change’ since last six to eight months.

While commenting over ‘shutter-down strike’ on call of PTI, he said that Imran Khan did not seek or consult PMLQ to close cities.

He said that infra-structure of the provincial government in Punjab completely destroyed which was only dependent on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Answering a question raised by a reporter, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi stated that contacting Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to join anti-government coalition was before time.
