Criminal activities of Pakistani media workers exposed!

LAHORE: Criminal activities of workers belonging to two media giants have been highlighted in Pakistan on Wednesday after seizure of illegal goods and an official raid on defaulter cable operator in Lahore.

Security agencies on Wednesday seized ‘illegal and dangerous stuffs’ on Lahore railway station including nine wine bottles, ten 30-32 bore revolvers, ball bearing, a pump action and 100 gram suspicious white powder seemingly ‘gunpowder’.

Major blow for ARY News:

The recovered material were wrapped in ‘two packets’ sent via cargo from Karachi railway station to Lahore while ‘All stuffs were illegal and quite dangerous in its kind,’ General Manager Railways Javed Anwar told reporters during a press conference along with Inspector General (IG) Railways Muneer Ahmed Chishti.

He said that the sender had termed the goods as domestic products which were sent to ‘a representative of ARY news channel’ and they don’t know the reason of transporting such destructive things.

A case filed with registration no 14/194 at railway police station Lahore over transporting illegal goods besides accusing several media, security and railway employees.

Crimes

The official shockingly revealed that the identity card of the ARY representative also seized by the railway authorities who was also accused in the case along with two railway employees and three policemen.

The person also arrested in the connection, reportedly named as Asif Shehzad Qureshi, who came to receive the packets on Lahore railway station.

Accused persons in the case were arrested by the security agencies including Sub-Inspector Furqanul Haque, Ashram Daad, Constable Sardar Mohammad while Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Karachi Niyaz Ahmed was suspended.

GM Railways said that the court would decide ‘who and how much’ the accused involved in the crime while the person which booked the packets also nominated in the case.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) conducted a raid on an alleged ‘defaulter’ cable operator office reportedly named as ‘Regal Star’ that is functioning under ownership of Sultan Lakhani who also belongs to Express Media Groups of Pakistan, local media reported on Wednesday.

Sultan Lakhani’s ‘Regal Star’ reportedly declared defaulter of Rs20 million (Rs2 crores) by Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA), Geo News reported.

According to report, the disciplinary action was stopped over intervention of a media team officer to the federal government same as he was sheltered from previous legal action due to his influences amongst media high-ups.

Report claimed that Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani alleged directed the PEMRA and other officials to end legal actions against ‘Regal Star’ and ‘pressurised the police officer to return all seized equipments besides ending operation.’
