Taliban attack kills three foreigners in Kabul, police chief resigns

KABUL: Ninth attack in row during last two weeks in the federal capital of Afghanistan, three South African nationals including father and his two children killed by Taliban, foreign reports said.

Afghan Taliban targeted foreign compounds, embassy vehicles, US troops and a female Afghan member of parliament during last two weeks as as the US-led NATO ending up its operations.

Kabul police chief General Zahir Zahir resigned from his post after recent killing of South Africans and an Afghan citizen in the attack on foreign compound.

Partnership in Academics and Development (PAD), a small US-based education aid group, posted a message on its website, saying three of its staff had been killed in the attack, AFP reported on Sunday.

According to PAD website, multiple gunmen resorted furious attack including one who blew himself with explosives killing three and injuring other staff members.

Zahir said the organisation’s local head, his son and his daughter were all killed.

“The attackers first shot dead the director as they entered the building,” Zahir said at a press conference, giving no further details about the victims’ age.
