Double bombing in mosque claims 64 lives, injures 126 in Nigeria

ABUJA: At least 64 persons were killed while 126 others serious injured followed by double bombing inside a mosque during Friday prayers in Nigeria, foreign media reported.

Two back-to-back explosions were carried out inside the most of renowned Islamic leaders of Nigera, the Emir of Kano, when worshippers gathered for Friday prayers, AFP reported on Friday.

The Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was said to be inside the mosque at the time, with the explosions happening in an outdoor courtyard.

Sanusi considered amongst the most influential figures of Nigeria and officially Emir is the number two cleric behind the Sultan of Sokoto.

The attack carried out by the terrorists when Sanusi urged northerners to take up arms against Islamist group Boko Haram for defending their civilian rights and insurgency.
